Madison Family Center
Madison School Family Center is a joint effort between the larger community of Pasadena and the community of Madison Elementary School through the Healthy Start Program. The central focus is the children and their success in life. Services are provided through joint planning with children, parents, teachers, and professionals from community agencies. It is a holistic approach for the entire family through the integration of educational, social, economic and health services. This is done through collaboration between the school, agencies, businesses and family participation.
OUTCOMES TARGETED:
- Goal 1: To improve school performance through healthy children, who have less absenteeism and come to school ready to learn. This will be accomplished through the services of a Family Nurse Practitioner and the on site Child Health Demonstration Project Clinic. It will provide immunizations, physical examinations, treatment, medications, counseling and referrals.
- Goal 2: To provide for early intervention and better communication between child parent, staff and the larger community. This will be accomplished through parent information seminars, English as a Second Language classes, technical assistance to complete and integrate legal, employment, and agency assistance for the family.
- Goal 3: To insure improvement in obtaining needed services from community agencies through the removal of barriers. This will be accomplished through participation and accountability of schools and social services agencies, who will meet monthly and address the needs of the families and children and will provide on site personnel or services to meet these needs.
